Frankie for free
A new collection of Frankie Howerd shows has been released on DVD this week – and we have five copies to give away.
Oh Please Yourselves contains six shows the comic icon made for ITV between 1973 and 1991, a year before he died.
The collection includs a documentary from 1973 following Howerd on a tour playing to the troops in Northern Ireland; 1974’s Frankie Howerd In Concert; the 1980 variety show Frankie Howerd Reveals All; the 1987 live show Superfrank!; Frankie Howerd On Campus, recorded at Oxford University in 1990 and the 1991 special Further Up Pompeii.
The shows feature guests including John Le Mesurier, Sheila Steafel and Kenny Lynch, and writing from Johnny Speight, Barry Cryer and Galton & Simpson Here is a trailer.
Also included as extras are two full episodes of the Russell Harty chat show from 1974 and 1979 when Howerd was a guest.
