Art of the podast
Comedian Annie McGrath is launching a new podcast based on her love of art.
In the series, Secret Artist, she will chat to guests as they both paint or draw something.
Fellow comics lined up to appear include Phil Wang, Rhys James, Mae Martin, Lou Sanders, Harriet Kemsley, Katy Wix, Ellie White and Pierre Novellie.
The first two episodes of Secret Artists will be released via Acast on November 7, then one episode weekly from then on.
It is a precursor to an exhibition McGrath is curating of art by comedians, raising money for Mental Health UK.
She said: ‘I’m at that stage of my life where a lot of my friends are getting engaged or becoming pregnant or starting a podcast and that seemed like the least financially draining option.
‘Secret Artists has been really fun to make and interesting to see how each comedian copes with the pressure of creating an artwork under time restraints. I hope it’s an entertaining listen! At least now I have my own podcast, I can finally call myself a millennial.’
Stuart Laws, director of production company Turtle Canyon Comedy added: ‘Annie is a brilliant, unique voice in comedy and the chance to combine that with her talent for art was perfect for our first podcast.
‘To get the line up of guests we’ve got speaks volumes to not only the interesting format but also Annie’s natural and unassuming hosting that brings a new side out of everyone she interviews.’
