Milton Jones to perform in cathedral

Milton Jones will become the first comedian to perform stand-up at Leicester Cathedral next week.

The comic will be performing his solo show Milton's Paradise Jones on Thursday as part of Leicester Comedy Festival.

But he said he would not be changing his material for the venue, saying: ‘Anyone expecting controversial religious gags will be disappointed though. I'm actually a Christian and a regular church-goer so it will all be suitable material.’

rnThe cathedral has previously been used to host a debate during the Leicester Comedy Festival, when Jerry Springer: The Opera creator Stewart Lee clashed with the Bishop oF Leicester over religion.

Canon Barry Naylor, who will be hosting the event, told the Leicester Mercury: ‘Milton is a Christian and I am sure that what he will do will be fitting and appropriate. But I think it is important to say that we would be happy for anyone, not just Christians, to perform in the venue.'
