Gavin And Gavin: Our Funny Bones

Show Rating:Gavin And Gavin: Our Funny Bones rated 2/5

Sisters Sharon and Loretta Gavin are a double act who try to be risque but remain resolutely clean and wholesome: an act for Middle England.

They might be able to write a good stage show, but this one has been compromised into an amiable fog of blandness through a series of attempts to appeal to TV producers, including a format idea and sketches to showcase their various characters and accents. There is a montage sequence, a mimed pop video and even, at the end, an irrelevant dance sequence in case that could get them booked.

While one can't but admire their thoroughness in auditioning, it is to the detriment of the show, which becomes a spineless mass of bits and bobs.

They even diminish their brand name at some points by calling themselves The Gavin Sisters, even if that is a better name than Gavin & Gavin.

"It's hard," they say, "doing what you dream about and what you love." It sure is, as this inoffensive show proves.

You can't dislike them; they provide appetisers. But where's the meat?
