I get the feeling this thread may be filled soon with comedians not agreeing with the review. For my money, Gavin Webster is one of the finest comics to come out of the UK in recent years. Top notch material, with a brilliant idiot-savante persona. Intelligent material aimed at working class audiences, an almost unique niche. Maybe that night the audience were just a bunch of c***s.

I saw his Edinburgh preview in Hartlepool last night, an hour-long set during which the laughter doesn't stop. He's a hugely polished and capable comedian, and you get the feeling that you've only seen a fraction of his top-flight material by the end of the show. I reckon he'll be a household name before long.
