Two stars is way off base, man! The party I went along with found Matt King to be a very pleasant surprise. Matt's got good material and a superb rapport. How can you honestly give Emo Philips four stars and Matt King two?

I disagree. Reviewers are so predictable dishing out five stars to all the big sponsored names that they seem to find it hard to enjoy something for what it is. World weary and jaded they are like a pack of bleating sheep. I went along with three friends to see Matt King at the last moment after seeing the much hyped Rich Hall and really enjoyed it. He engaged the audience from the first word and there were plenty of gut laughs too. Really enjoyed the show and it stood alongside the others (Jason Byrne, Tommy Tiernan, Ross Noble, Otis Lee Crenshaw) just fine. Variety is the spice of life dear reviwers. Take a holiday and get a fresh perspective.

Chortle has given five stars to just four shows this year - only one of which was produced by a big agency, so I don't really accept your criticism as valid. We tend to review the comics, not the management companies. Having said that, Matt is normally much better than when I saw him, so I'm glad you had a good night.
