Channel 4 goes off Campus
Channel 4 has axed its university comedy Campus in the face of poor ratings.
The show – from Green Wing creator Victoria Pile – averaged just 554,000 viewers over its first six episodes.
Now the broadcaster has confirmed that it will not be returning for a second series.
A spokesperson said: ‘Channel 4 are very proud to have championed Campus and those fans who watched, adored it, but there simply weren’t enough of them to justify a second series.’
The show, which starred Andy Nyman as despotic vice-chancellor Jonty de Wolfe as well as such comedy circuit names as Sara Pascoe, Katherine Ryan and Will Adamsdale, received mixed reviews when it launched in April.
