Mackenzie Taylor funeral announced
The funeral of Mackenzie Taylor, the troubled comedian who took his own life earlier this month, is to take place on December 8.
The ceremony will take place at St Michael & All Angels church in Pirbright, near Woking, Surrey – not far from his home in Guildford. It will be followed by a gathering of friends and family at Chobham Golf Club.
The comic, writer and director took an overdose on November 18, at the age of 32.
He suffered from schizoaffective disorder, which was diagnosed at the age of 15, and he often spoke of his mental health problems in his comedy. His 2009 Edinburgh show, No Straightjacket Required, addressed his earlier attempt to commit suicide by taking an overdose at the Komedia comedy club in Brighton the previous year.
There will be only family flowers at next month’s funeral, but the family would welcome donations in his memory to mental health charity MIND. These can be sent to funeral directors Ford Mears and Partners, 9 Cresswell Corner, Anchor Hill, Knaphill, Surrey GU21 2JD.
