Janeane Garofalo and Sean Lock are to appear in the next series of Johnny Vegas’s drug-dealer sitcom Ideal.

The American comedian is a new regular character, appearing in six of the eight BBC Three episodes as an interior designer.

It is not the only British sitcom role the former Larry Sanders star is taking this year, having signed up to make a guest appearance in Channel 4’s Increasingly Poor Decisions Of Todd Margaret, alongside fellow comedian David Cross.

Both Ideal and Todd Margaret air on the IFC network in the States, which is were Garofalo became aware of the BBC show. She said: ‘I was a fan of the show. I thought it was so creative and different.’

Meanwhile Lock plays a post-operative female-male transsexual who nonetheless decided to keep her ample breasts following the procedure.

The sixth series of Ideal, which also features guest appearances from John Shuttleworth creator Graham Fellows and DJ Mark Radcliffe begins at 10.30pm next Tuesday (17th).

Here Garofalo discusses their characters in a video exclusive to Chortle.
