Edna's sidekick dies
'Madge Alsopp' was 100
The actress who played Dame Edna Everage's sidekick Madge Allsopp, has died at the age of 100.Emily Perry played the housewife megastar's put-upon bridesmaid from 1987, when she was 80, until 2004. However, in all that time on stage and on Dame Edna’s ITV shows, she never said a word.
She also made a one-off appearance in Last of the Summer Wine in 1995. On retirement then moved to Brinsworth House, a home for former entertainers, near Twickenham in south-west London.
Before finding fame Perry, originally from Torquay in Devon, ran a children's dancing school.
