Shoot the pilots

Six new comedies for BBC 3

BBC Three has commissioned six new comedy pilots, including a gay-themed sketch show called Raging.

All the shows are be aired at the end of the month and are said to feature a raft of new talent.

As well as Raging, which will be made by BBC Scotland, the line-up also includes teenage sitcom Coming Of Age, produced by the Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps team, as reported by Chortle last month.

Another of the shows is Spacehopper, a sketch show designed to appeal to the "hidden juvenile delinquent" in everyone, and Sound, about two friends who set up their own record label in Manchester. Both are made by BBC Comedy North.

The Scum Also Rise is a sitcom revealing the inner workings of an advertising agency, written by a former ad executive and featuring Swinging’s Tom Price.

Finally comes Biffovision, a sketch show based around morning children’s TV, written by Tim Moore and Paul Rose. They previously created the cult Teletext video games magazine Digitiser, under the alter egos Mr Biffo and Mr Hairs.
