Junior Simpson

Original Review: Living proof that style often triumphs over content Simpson's irresistible energy and evangelical delivery can engage the most jaded of rooms - which is even more of an achievement when you consider the sheer paucity of his material. His topics seem stuck in a timewarp, covering such hoary chestnuts as the deep-voiced guy who does cinema ad voiceovers, and he does so with little insight or originality. Though his infectious stage manner carries him a long way, it can't overcome the dreary lack of invention that lies where the soul of act should be. There is the very occasional funny line, but it all seems like woefully inadequate papering over the gaping holes in his creativity. |

This bloke is funny as fuck, completely off his tits! He entertained our entire battle group in Basra recently, and then again in Cyprus. At one point I laughed so hard I nearly shat myself. Don't miss him. Jim Nagle, December 2008 |

For me, Junior is neither the king of delivery nor the the catastrophe of invention he's usually considered. He's just another comic with an agreeable manner and fair-to-middling material. Good fun though Michael Monkhouse, March 2008 |

Top class act, has to be the funniest stand up I have ever seen live: Inventive jokes, excellent timing and very funny jokes. loved every minutes of it and my ribs was still hurting a week after. Will definitely see him again kenny, March 2008 |

Dated, tired, arrogant and totally unfunny relying on the race card for the majority of the set. Avoid at all costs. Rich Dudley, October 2007 |

Not funny. Sass, October 2007 |

Junior Simpson divides people on the circuit. On the one hand, he is a wonderfully stylish performer who fills the stage with a very natural charisma that comes off in his brilliant delivery. On the other hand, he is notorious for using his style to prop up easy, unoriginal material that is done much better by other comics. Personally, I rather enjoyed him. He seemed relaxed, with strong timing, and handled what can be a hard East London crowd very, very well. Alain English, September 2007 |

A true pro. Twice I was left in stiches. Very very very funny man, he blew Funny Bunny's away. Matt, January 2007 |

Very good. Crowd chanted for him to come back on. NH, June 2006 |
